Backbone of the Operations
These rescue members are trained to navigate Crook County terrains, all weather conditions, to locate and assist individuals in distress. With the guidance of our Emergency Operation Center (EOC) the teams are able navigate the backcountry, and rugged trails to locate the individuals lost or stranded. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of those in need.
Mounted SAR Team
Equine Search Expertise
Our Mounted SAR team is trained to assists in the search efforts as the need is called upon. These highly trained equine teams train throughout the year in desensitizing and improving the skills of both rider and horse. You will also find the MSAR team assisting with community events, crowd control, parking assistance, and at our local rodeo.
K-9 Team
Canine Search Expertise
Our K-9 team plays a crucial role in our search and rescue efforts, utilizing the exceptional olfactory abilities of our canine partners to locate missing persons efficiently. These trained dogs are instrumental in covering vast areas and detecting scents to aid in successful search operations.
Fire Evacuation
Fire Evacuation and Assistance
During our Summer months, as most know, Central Oregon is in a high fire risk situation. Our teams may be called upon to assists our local Forest Service teams with fire evacuations, road closures, and communications. Our teams may also be called out to assists other counties in Oregon as the Sheriff deems necessary.
